Lightweight Concrete

The BH Group is a certified applicator of the Siplast, Mearlcrete, and Celcore lightweight insulating concrete roof systems. Through these manufacturers, we provide cellular, NVS, and ZIC types of lightweight insulating concrete. Although each type of concrete exhibits different properties, they all share unique benefits inherent to lightweight concrete roof systems.

These properties include:

• Customized positive slope to drain design
• FM wind uplift and UL Fire Ratings, eliminating the need to fire proof the underside of the structural metal decking
• High thermal and moisture resistance creating a permanent insulating deck for reroofing applications
• Correction of deflections and irregularities of the structural deck insuring positive slope to drain
• Compressive strengths ranging from 160 to 250 psi., allowing limited work after installation
• Ability to install 5,000 to 7,000 square feet of roof area per day

Extended roof membrane life through:

• Reduction of extreme temperature fluctuation causing membrane fatigue failure
• Reduction of mechanical movement stress due to a dimensionally stable monolithic structure

These features result in savings to the building owner through both low initial and life cycle cost. In addition, LEED issues are considered due to the minimal waste disposal with respect to reroofing installations, the availability of materials in a given area and the absence of harmful ozone components.
